Thought I'd share some of my process work for the caricature that I'm working on now. 

2 minute scribbling to get the composition and idea out into my sketchbook. 

An hour or so  (roughly, I draw inbetween taking calls at work, so it's hard to estimate). Illustration board.

Final sketch, made some composition changes.  Once I finish the last few things, time to ink it up and splash on a ton of colour!

Ocean Lurv

I haven't taken a breath underwater in almost three years. I think being on land so much is driving me a little batty, so I've been doodling little sea creatures incessantly. So here's some little ideas I've developing for a bigger piece down the road.

'cause faces are coo. And so is updating regularly. 

Drop text

While on the bus I was thinking of Michaela's grad show piece, the incredibly brightly illustrated 'hype' was inspired to do this little diddy and play around with drop text. I wish masking fluid was more malleable, but in the end I sort of like the rough edges.  

I used a little gouache to help these ones, but their crudeness prevailed (as did mine) as the night went on. It's surprising what seems clever and funny in the late hours of the evening, which really isn't the next day.

My copics are were running low, so what else can you do but scribble away what's left?

Summer Projects

It's a big decision to decide what to focus on during the summer months. But there's something about large heads on small bodies that amuses me, so caricaturing it is! Here is a group caricature of  the band Treelines . They're a great band coming out of Kelowna and good guys all around.Check them out here..
